I think that the fast-food in Southafrica is bad; junk-food is really the correct term for it, but then again I do not like sausage. Boerwurs is one kind of (or should I say the Afrikaans sausage) that one 'has to' try. Unfortunatelly. Then there is a lot of other fatty food, which shows on the middle-age white Southafrican and on me when I returned to Sweden... There are a lot of BBQs and the national-dish is Brai, i e African BBQ! The cofee is as watery as in the US and Norway, but there is grown Roibors for tea, which is red and completely without caffeine. It is also very good! In Sterkfontein i saw some archeological excavations. The official Cradle of Humankind is situated in southern Africa, i e where the first human beings are believed to have evoloved. Mrs Ples was found in Sterkfontein by dr Broom in 1947 she is 'the most perfect pre-human skull ever found'. Of course I had to buy mrs Ples in plaster as a souvenir. Pretoria is Southafrica's official capital and it is situated north of Johannesburg. The 'great' nationalmonument Vortrekkers Monument is situated there. It is a monument about the wars between the Dutch, the natives and the English. A regular war-memorial, so to speak about the Boer's victories in Southafrica.

At last a picture of the prison-walls on Robben Island right out of Cape Town, where Nelson Mandela was prisoned during most of his adult life. It is now a museum, where some former inmates work as guides and tell their stories. I recomend that very warmly and by that I have told my story about Southafrica; I hope that you have enjoyed it!
